MSGT Davy Nathaniel Weaver was born on February 8th 1969, the son of Mrs. Patsy Rabuck and Mr. Emory Weaver. Davy enlisted in the Georgia Army National Guard on March 25, 1987 as an infantry soldier. Davy completed his Georgia Army National Guard Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Davy served Active Duty in Bosnia and Kosovo in the 1990's. In May of 2005 Davy was called to Active Duty Service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and spent a year in Kuwait and Iraq in support of the mission there. Davy was returned to Georgia State control in May 2006. In May of 1997 Davy was again called to Active Duty Service in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Davy Deployed as part of the 48th Brigade Combat Team, as a member of the 2nd Kanduk, 2nd Brigade, Regional Corps Advisory Command, as an Embedded Training Team Member. Davy earned the Army's Combat Infantry Badge in September 2007 for his exceptional actions under enemy fire and rocket attack in Afghanistan. Prior to his death from injuries suffered by an Improvised Explosive Device, Davy had twice been involved in these types of attacks in a two week period. Regardless of these attacks Davy still took part in all missions assigned to his team. When the call came for volunteers to stay additional time in Afghanistan due to personnel shortages, Davy did not hesitate to add his name for an additional three-month extension. This dedication to his Brothers-In-Arms, his mission and the people of Afghanistan proved fatal for Davy, as he died within that additional time. Davy loved being a soldier and defender for his country. Davy was a devoted father who is survived by his three children - Bradley, Malachi & Elleanor. Davy is also is survived by his mother - Patsy Rabuck, whom he was devoted to, and his father Emory Weaver. Davy is also survived by his wife, Kathy, two sisters, Cynthia & Jessica; a brother, Emory J.; his step father Skip Rabuck, and his grandparents James T. and Alice Smith. All devastated at the loss of Davy. Davy's love for his Afghani mission and the people there is best described by a fellow soldier who wrote and told of Davy's care for an orphaned Afghani girl. During a humanitarian aid mission to a village in the district of Mizan, Davy was observing the Afghan Army passing out aid to the families of this poor war torn area. As he watched Davy saw a small child standing well away from the other children. She had not gotten any of the toys or shoes that had been passed out. Davy walked back to the Humvee he arrived in and dug out a small stuffed animal from his bag. Davy walked over to the little girl, interpreter in tow, to give her the stuffed animal. At first the child was afraid so Davy squatted down with the stuffed animal in his hands, and after a while she came over and eventually took the small stuffed animal from him. Through the interpreter Davy learned of the small girls plight as an orphan, and gave her a blanket and other supplies as well. Every time Davy visited the village after that he always checked on the small young girl. Thereafter, she would not go to any other soldier but went gladly to speak with Davy and always had the small stuffed animal with her. It is examples such as this that Davy wrote his children about in his letters home. Davy told them of his love for them and talked of sending them pictures of all the work he was doing in Afghanistan, and the importance of his being away from them. Davy's children can be proud of the example set by their father in his care for his fellow soldiers, the people and especially the children of Afghanistan, and in particular his humanitarian missions, and one small girl who captured his care and dedication. MSGT DAVY NATHANIEL WEAVER IS A TRUE EXAMPLE OF A PATRIOTIC AMERICAN, A HUMANITARIAN, A SOLDIERS SOLDIER, AND A GEORGIA HERO. WE ARE HONORED TO BE ALLOWED TO NAME OUR DIRECT AID PROJECT OF SUPPORT FOR THE CHILDREN OF AFGHANISTAN AND OUR UNIFORMED PERSONNEL SERVING US THERE AFTER DAVY. WE THANK HIS FAMILY FOR THIS HONOR, AND GRIEVE THEIR LOSS. MAY DAVY BE REMEMBERED ALWAYS AS A WONDERFUL FATHER, SON, AND SOLDIER, AND AS THE LOVING, CARING MAN HE WAS.
